Have Questions About LCRT?
We've Got Answers.
Lowcountry Rapid Transit (LCRT) will transform our region by improving transportation for people traveling on buses, on foot, and on bikes.

As our project team continues finalizing LCRT’s design and preparing the system to advance to construction, we thought we’d answer some common questions about its service and features.
How many stations will be included?
LCRT will include 20 modern stations, with additional stations proposed for the future. These stations were intentionally chosen based on community feedback and to connect riders with key destinations like:

How much will LCRT cost to ride?
The planned fare to ride on LCRT is $2.00. The cost is projected to be the same as a one-way CARTA trip. Riders will be able to purchase fare tickets through a rider app or at fare vending machines located at stations.
How is safety being addressed in the system's design?
Safety is a top priority of the LCRT project team and its partners. Planned safety features include additional sidewalks and signalized crosswalks for pedestrian and bicycle safety and area lighting, shelter lighting, and CCTV cameras at stations to help provide a safe and secure environment for riders waiting for the bus.
What kind of technology will be used in LCRT?
Advanced technologies will make the LCRT system faster and more efficient. Technology utilized in LCRT will include:
  • Traffic signal priority at stoplights
  • WiFi equipped stations and buses
  • Digital station displays with real-time information and maps
  • Updated wayfinding and corridor lighting
  • Off-board fare payment
